Homemade Bubble Gum
Ingredients:
- 1/3 cup gum base pellets
- 3 tablespoons corn syrup
- 1/2 teaspoon glycerin
- 1 teaspoon powdered sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon citric acid (optional, for tartness)
- 1/2 teaspoon bubble gum flavoring
- Food coloring (optional)
- Powdered sugar for dusting
Directions:
1. In a microwave-safe bowl, combine gum base pellets and corn syrup.
2. Microwave on high for 30 seconds, then stir thoroughly. Repeat microwaving in 15-second intervals, stirring each time, until the gum base is melted and smooth.
3. Add glycerin, powdered sugar, citric acid (if using), bubble gum flavoring, and a few drops of food coloring if desired.
4. Stir the mixture until all ingredients are fully incorporated and the dough forms.
5. Lightly dust a clean surface with powdered sugar and turn the gum dough onto it.
6. Knead the gum dough for about 5 minutes, adding more powdered sugar as needed to prevent sticking.
7. Once smooth and pliable, roll the gum dough into small balls or flatten into sheets to cut into shapes.
8. Allow the gum to sit at room temperature for a few hours to firm up before chewing.
