Mongolian Ground Beef and Noodles
Ingredients:
1 lb ground beef
8 oz noodles (spaghetti or lo mein)
1/4 cup soy sauce
1/4 cup brown sugar
1 tablespoon hoisin sauce
1 tablespoon sesame oil
1 tablespoon ginger, minced
2 cloves garlic, minced
1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (optional)
1 cup green onions, chopped
1/2 cup beef broth
1 tablespoon cornstarch (mixed with 2 tablespoons water to make a slurry)
Sesame seeds for garnish
Fresh cilantro (optional)
Directions:
Cook the Noodles:
Cook the noodles according to the package instructions. Drain and set aside.
Cook the Ground Beef:
In a large skillet, heat sesame oil over medium heat. Add the ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it up with a spatula, about 5-7 minutes. Drain excess fat if necessary.
Add the Aromatics:
Add the minced garlic, ginger, and red pepper flakes to the skillet with the beef. Cook for an additional 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
Make the Sauce:
Stir in the soy sauce, brown sugar, hoisin sauce, and beef broth. Bring the mixture to a simmer. Add the cornstarch slurry to the skillet and stir until the sauce thickens, about 1-2 minutes.
Combine with Noodles:
Add the cooked noodles to the skillet and toss to coat them evenly with the sauce. Stir in the chopped green onions.
Serve:
Garnish with sesame seeds and fresh cilantro if desired. Serve hot and enjoy this savory and slightly sweet dish!
