Christmas Sugar Cookies
Ingredients:
- 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
- 1 egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 teaspoon almond extract
- 3 tablespoons sour cream
- Colored sugar or sprinkles for decoration
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
2. In a small bowl, combine flour, baking soda, and baking powder. Set aside.
3. In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until smooth and fluffy.
4. Beat in the egg, vanilla extract, and almond extract.
5. Gradually blend in the dry ingredients followed by the sour cream until the dough comes together.
6. Roll out dough on a lightly floured surface to about 1/4 inch thickness.
7. Cut into desired shapes with cookie cutters and place on ungreased baking sheets.
8. Decorate with colored sugar or sprinkles as desired.
9. Bake for 8 to 10 minutes or until edges are just beginning to turn golden.
10. Allow cookies to cool on baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to wire racks to cool completely.
