Classic Christmas Spritz Cookies
Ingredients:
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- Assorted colored sugar or sprinkles for decoration
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
2. In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
3. Beat in the egg and vanilla extract until well combined.
4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture, mixing until a soft dough forms.
5. Fill a cookie press fitted with your favorite Christmas-shaped disc with the dough. Press cookies onto the prepared baking sheets about 1 inch apart.
6. Decorate each cookie with colored sugar or sprinkles as desired.
7. Bake for 8-10 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden. Remove from oven and allow to cool on the baking sheets for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
