Bakery-Style Chocolate Chip Cookies

Makes about 12 large cookies

Ingredients:

1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, room temp

1 cup brown sugar, packed

½ cup granulated sugar

2 large eggs

2 tsp vanilla extract

3 cups all-purpose flour

1 tsp baking soda

½ tsp baking powder

1 tsp salt

2 cups semisweet or dark chocolate chips or chunks

Optional: flaky sea salt for topping

Instructions:

1. Cream Butter & Sugars:

In a large bowl, cream butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until light and fluffy (2–3 min).

2. Add Eggs & Vanilla:

Beat in eggs one at a time, then add vanilla.

3. Mix Dry Ingredients:

In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.

Gradually mix into wet ingredients until just combined.

4. Stir in Chocolate:

Fold in chocolate chips or chunks. Do not overmix.

5. Chill the Dough:

Chill dough for at least 1 hour (overnight is best for thicker cookies and better flavor).

6. Bake:

Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).

Scoop large dough balls (about ¼ cup each) onto a lined baking sheet, spaced well apart.

Optional: Sprinkle with sea salt.

7. Bake Time:

Bake 12–14 minutes, until edges are golden but centers are still soft.

Let cool on the sheet for 5 minutes before transferring.
