Amish-Style Pot Roast Perfection 🍲🐄
Ingredients:
🥩 3-4 lb chuck roast
🫒 2 tbsp olive oil
🧅 1 large onion, chopped
🧄 4 cloves garlic, minced
🍖 1 cup beef broth
🍏 1/2 cup apple cider vinegar
🍬 1/4 cup brown sugar
2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
2 tbsp Dijon mustard (optional)
🍃 2 bay leaves
🌿 1 tsp dried thyme
🌶️ 1 tsp paprika
1/2 tsp ground allspice (optional)
🧂 Salt and pepper, to taste
🥕 4 large carrots, cut into chunks
🥔 4-5 potatoes, quartered
🌿 Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
Prep Time: ⏰ 15 minutes
Cook Time: ⏰ 8-9 hours on low or 4-5 hours on high
Instructions:
Sear the roast:
Generously season the chuck roast 🥩 with salt and pepper 🧂.
Heat olive oil 🫒 in a skillet over medium-high heat. Sear the roast on all sides (about 4-5 minutes per side). Transfer the roast to the slow cooker.
Prepare the sauce:
3. In the same skillet, sauté onions 🧅 and garlic 🧄 until softened.
4. Stir in beef broth 🍖, apple cider vinegar 🍏, brown sugar 🍬, Worcestershire sauce, Dijon mustard (optional), paprika 🌶️, thyme 🌿, and allspice. Bring to a simmer, then pour over the roast.
Add vegetables:

Slow cook:
