I don't know if you tried a roast in your baby crock. But I have made my roast this way for years. Sunday is roast day I make special for my husband. It is his favorite dish. As you can see looking at the photo of the roast it would be tough if I made it the usual way in the oven. There is no fat marble in this roast to make it tender. But this way of making the roast makes it so tender no knife is needed. I got the smallest roast they had, 2 pounds. I usually get one that is 1-1 1/2 pounds. If it is too large, I cut it in half. Put one half in the freezer for a future meal. I decided to make the entire roast because my husband said he would like me to make some fajita's with the leftovers. So, I will get a couple meals out of this roast. Really, it's not that big but we don't like a lot of leftovers. That's why I use my baby crock often.
I put the roast in the bottom of the baby crock. I sprinkle 1/2 pkg of dry Au Jus and 1/2 pkg of Hidden Valley Ranch Dressing right on top of the roast. We like onions and mushrooms. You can eliminate them if you don't like them. I place 1/2 stick of butter on top of the entire roast. The butter is what will make the roast tender. Put it on low for 4 hours. Sometimes I add a potato to the pot for my husband. He likes potatoes, I don't. I will probably add one for him.
I forgot to tell you that you do not add any liquid to this. It will make its own delicious liquid and I make gravy with the liquid. The onion in the gravy is soooo good when you top the meat with it. Then top it with the mushrooms that were cooking in the crock.
I added a photo of the roast cooked.
