1Β½ cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
ΒΌ teaspoon salt
For the Maple Icing:
1Β½ cups powdered sugar
3 tablespoons pure maple syrup
2β3 teaspoons milk (adjust for consistency)
Β½ teaspoon maple extract
Instructions
Prepare the Dough:
In a mixing bowl, cream the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the egg, maple extract, and vanilla extract until smooth. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing until a soft dough forms.
Chill the Dough:
Divide the dough in half, shape into discs, and wrap in plastic wrap. Chill in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes to firm up the dough.
Bake the Cookies:
Preheat your oven to 350Β°F (175Β°C). Roll out the chilled dough on a lightly floured surface to about ΒΌ-inch thickness. Use cookie cutters to cut shapes, then place them on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Bake for 8β10 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden. Let cool completely on a wire rack.
Make the Icing:
In a small bowl, whisk together the powdered sugar, maple syrup, milk, and maple extract until smooth. Add more milk, one teaspoon at a time, if needed to reach a drizzle-friendly consistency.
Decorate and Serve:
Drizzle or spread the icing over the cooled cookies. Allow the icing to set for 15β20 minutes before serving. Enjoy these sweet, maple-infused treats with a cup of coffee or tea!
