Homemade Kool-Aid Licorice Ropes
Ingredients:
1 cup granulated sugar
1/2 cup light corn syrup
1/4 cup water
1 packet (0.13 oz) Kool-Aid powder (any flavor)
2 cups powdered sugar (for dusting)
Gel food coloring (optional, to enhance color)
Cooking spray or oil (for greasing)
Directions:
Lightly grease a silicone mat or parchment-lined baking sheet with cooking spray.
In a medium saucepan over medium heat, combine granulated sugar, corn syrup, and water. Stir until sugar dissolves.
Without stirring, bring mixture to a boil and cook until it reaches 255°F (hard ball stage) on a candy thermometer.
Remove from heat and immediately stir in Kool-Aid powder and food coloring if using. Mix quickly and carefully.
Let the mixture cool slightly until it's safe to handle but still pliable (about 2–3 minutes).
Grease your hands and carefully pull and stretch the candy into long ropes, twisting as desired.
Dust the ropes with powdered sugar to prevent sticking and let them cool completely on a greased surface.
Once set, cut into desired lengths and store in an airtight container.
