Snickerdoodle Cream Cheese Apple Pie
Ingredients:
- 2 pre-made pie crusts (9-inch)
- 4 medium apples, peeled, cored, and sliced (about 4 cups)
- 1 cup cream cheese, softened
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
- 1 tablespoon sugar (for sprinkling)
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
2. In a large bowl, toss the sliced apples with lemon juice, cinnamon, nutmeg, granulated sugar, and brown sugar. Set aside.
3. In a separate bowl, beat the cream cheese with vanilla extract until smooth and creamy.
4. Roll out one pie crust into a 9-inch pie dish. Spread the cream cheese mixture evenly over the bottom of the crust.
5. Layer the apple mixture over the cream cheese, spreading it out evenly.
6. Cover with the second pie crust. Trim any excess dough and crimp the edges to seal.
7. Cut a few small slits in the top crust to allow steam to escape.
8. Brush the top crust with the beaten egg and sprinkle with the tablespoon of sugar.
9. Bake for 45-50 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the filling is bubbling.
10. Allow the pie to cool for at least 2 hours before serving to let the filling set.

Tips:
Use tart apples like Granny Smith for a balanced sweet-tart flavor that complements the cream cheese.
Chill the pie crust before baking to prevent shrinking and ensure a flaky texture.
