Baked Mac and Cheese
Ingredients:
2 ½ cups elbow macaroni
4 tbsp unsalted butter
¼ cup all-purpose flour
3 cups whole milk
1 cup heavy cream
1 tsp salt
½ tsp black pepper
½ tsp paprika
½ tsp garlic powder
3 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese (divided)
1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
½ cup panko breadcrumbs (optional)
1 tbsp chopped parsley (for garnish)
Instructions:
Cook Pasta: Boil the macaroni according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
Make Cheese Sauce: In a large saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Stir in flour and cook for 1 minute, whisking constantly.
Add Dairy: Slowly whisk in milk and heavy cream. Stir until smooth and thickened, about 3-5 minutes.
Season: Add salt, black pepper, paprika, and garlic powder. Stir well.
Add Cheese: Remove from heat and mix in 2 cups cheddar, mozzarella, and Parmesan cheese until melted.
Combine: Toss the cooked macaroni with the cheese sauce and pour into a greased baking dish.
Top & Bake: Sprinkle with remaining cheddar cheese and optional breadcrumbs. Bake at 375°F (190°C) for 20-25 minutes until golden brown and bubbly.
Garnish & Serve: Sprinkle with chopped parsley and serve warm.
