What dipping sauces would you use with these Homemade Pizza Rolls (Swirled Style)
Ingredients:
For the Dough (or use store-bought pizza dough)
3 cups all-purpose flour
2¼ tsp instant yeast (1 packet)
1 tsp sugar
1 tsp salt
2 tbsp olive oil
1 cup warm water
For the Filling:
½ cup pizza sauce or marinara
1½ cups shredded mozzarella cheese
½ cup shredded cheddar cheese (optional)
12–15 slices of pepperoni or thin-cut salami
½ red bell pepper, sliced thin
¼ tsp oregano
¼ tsp garlic powder
¼ tsp chili flakes (optional)
1 tbsp grated Parmesan (optional for topping)
For Finishing:
1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
Dried herbs for topping (oregano, basil, or Italian seasoning)
Olive oil or butter for brushing
Instructions:
1. Make the Dough:
Mix warm water, sugar, and yeast in a bowl. Let it sit for 5–10 minutes until frothy.
Add flour, salt, and olive oil. Mix and knead until a smooth dough forms (8–10 minutes by hand or 5 mins in a
stand mixer).
Place in a lightly greased bowl, cover, and let it rise for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
2. Prepare the Filling:
While dough rises, prep all your filling ingredients — slice pepperoni or veggies, shred cheese, and get the sauce ready.
3. Roll & Fill:
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Roll the dough into a large rectangle (about 12x15 inches).
Spread a thin layer of pizza sauce all over.
Sprinkle mozzarella and cheddar evenly.
Add your toppings: pepperoni, red pepper strips, or any others.
Sprinkle herbs, garlic powder, and chili flakes.
4. Roll Up & Cut:
Roll the dough tightly from the long side, like a cinnamon roll.
Cut into 12 even slices using a sharp knife or dental floss.
Place each roll cut-side up on the baking tray.
5. Bake:
Brush tops with egg wash or olive oil.
Sprinkle with Parmesan and dried herbs.
Bake for 18–22 minutes or until golden brown and cheese is bubbly.
6. Optional Finish:
Brush with melted garlic butter for that pizzeria-style finish.
