With a growing interest in artisanal bread-making, that exploded during the pandemic, a bread-starter babysitting service might not be as crazy as it sounds. To care for a sourdough starter, you need to feed it regularly with equal parts flour and water every 12-24 hours, maintain a consistent temperature, and properly discard a portion of the starter before each feeding to keep it healthy and active. Its a loving investment much like growing a garden. I find it encouraging that there is enough interest in old school baking methods to have led to the creation of the sourdough hotel service.
While there isn't a literal "hotel for sourdough starters" in the US like the one in Sweden, the concept of a place to care for your sourdough starter while you travel or are busy is interesting.
