Crockpot French Onion Meatloaf with Melted Swiss Cheese 🍽️🧀
Ingredients:
- 1 1/2 pounds ground turkey or chicken
- 1 cup grated Swiss cheese
- 1 large onion, finely chopped
- 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
- 1/4 cup beef or vegetable broth
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
- 1 teaspoon dried thyme
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- Fresh parsley, for garnish
Instructions:
1. Begin by preparing your crockpot. Lightly coat the inside with cooking spray or olive oil to prevent sticking.
2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground turkey (or chicken), breadcrumbs, grated Swiss cheese, and chopped onion. This mixture will create a hearty base for your meatloaf.
3. Next, add the minced garlic, beef or vegetable broth, Worcestershire sauce, Dijon mustard, thyme, onion powder, salt, and pepper to the meat mixture. Use your hands or a spatula to mix everything together until combined. Be careful not to overmix, as this can make the meatloaf dense.
4. Form the mixture into a loaf shape and carefully place it in the center of the crockpot.
5. Cover the crockpot with the lid and cook on low for 5 to 6 hours, or until the meatloaf is cooked through and reaches an internal temperature of 165°F.
6. About 15 minutes before serving, lift the lid and sprinkle the remaining Swiss cheese on top of the meatloaf. Close the lid again and let it melt beautifully.
7. Once the cheese is melted and bubbly, carefully remove the meatloaf from the crockpot using a spatula. Transfer it to a cutting board and let it rest for about 10 minutes before slicing.
8. Garnish with fresh parsley and serve warm. Enjoy your delicious Crockpot French Onion Meatloaf!
