Apple Crisp
Ingredients:
6 cups peeled and sliced apples (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp work great)
2 tablespoons lemon juice
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
For the Topping:
3/4 cup old-fashioned oats
3/4 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 cup unsalted butter, cold and cut into cubes
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease a 9x9 inch baking dish.
In a large mixing bowl, toss sliced apples with lemon juice, sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and 1 tablespoon flour. Pour into prepared baking dish.
In another bowl, combine oats, flour, both sugars, and cinnamon. Cut in butter using a pastry cutter or fork until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
Sprinkle topping evenly over apple mixture.
Bake for 40–45 minutes or until the top is golden and apples are bubbly and tender.
Let cool slightly before serving. Delicious warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream!
