Keto Meat Pies
Ingredients
For the keto “pastry” crust:
2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
2 oz cream cheese
1 ½ cups almond flour
1 large egg
½ tsp baking powder
¼ tsp salt
For the filling:
1 lb (450g) ground beef (or pork/turkey)
½ small onion, finely chopped (optional, for fewer carbs omit)
2 cloves garlic, minced
2 tbsp tomato paste (sugar-free)
1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
1 tsp smoked paprika
½ tsp oregano
½ tsp black pepper
½ tsp salt
½ cup shredded cheddar cheese (optional, for richness)
Instructions
Make the filling
Heat a skillet over medium heat. Add ground beef and cook until browned.
Add onion and garlic, sauté until softened.
Stir in tomato paste, Worcestershire sauce, paprika, oregano, salt, and pepper.
Simmer 5–7 minutes, then set aside to cool slightly.
Prepare keto pastry
In a microwave-safe bowl, melt mozzarella and cream cheese together (about 1–2 minutes). Stir until smooth.
Add almond flour, baking powder, egg, and salt. Mix into a dough.
If sticky, chill for 10 minutes or dust with almond flour.
Assemble pies
Roll out dough between two parchment sheets. Cut into circles (use a round cutter or small bowl).
Place a spoonful of filling in the center of each circle, sprinkle with cheddar if using.
Top with another dough circle, pressing edges with a fork to seal.
Brush tops with beaten egg for shine.
Bake
Place pies on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
Bake at 375°F (190°C) for 18–22 minutes, until golden brown.
Tips
For a flakier crust, add 1 tsp xanthan gum to the dough.
These freeze well — reheat in oven or air fryer.
You can also make mini appetizer versions with muffin tins.
