Ingredients
• 4 slices white bread
• 4 slices ham
• 1 cup (100g) Gruyère or Emmental cheese, shredded
• 2 tbsp butter, softened
• 2 eggs
For the Béchamel Sauce:
• 1 tbsp butter
• 2 tbsp flour
• 1 cup (240ml) milk
• Pinch of nutmeg
• Salt & pepper, to taste
Instructions
1️⃣ Prepare the Béchamel Sauce:
Melt 1 tbsp butter in a saucepan over medium heat. Stir in flour and cook for 1 minute, whisking continuously. Gradually add milk, whisking until thickened. Season with nutmeg, salt, and pepper.
2️⃣ Assemble the Sandwich:
Butter one side of each bread slice. Layer ham and cheese between two slices, keeping the buttered side facing out.
3️⃣ Grill to Perfection:
Toast the sandwich in a hot skillet over medium heat until golden brown on both sides and the cheese is melted.
4️⃣ Add Béchamel & Bake:
