🍋 Lemon Custard Cake 🍰
Ingredients:
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 4 large eggs, separated
- 1/4 cup lemon juice
- 1 tablespoon lemon zest
- 1 1/2 cups milk
- Powdered sugar for dusting
Instructions:
1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9-inch baking dish.
2. In a small bowl, whisk together the flour and salt.
3. In a separate mixing bowl, cream the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
4. Beat in the egg yolks one at a time, then stir in the lemon juice and zest.
5. Gradually mix in the flour mixture alternately with the milk until well combined.
6. In another clean bowl, beat the egg whites until stiff peaks form. Gently fold the egg whites into the batter.
7. Pour the batter into the prepared baking dish.
8. Place the baking dish in a larger pan filled with hot water to create a water bath.
9. Bake for 50-60 minutes, or until the top is golden and the center is set.
10. Allow the cake to cool before dusting with powdered sugar.
