π― Air Fried Apple Wedges with Caramel Whipped Cream π
Ingredients:
For the Air Fried Apple Wedges:
4 large firm apples (Granny Smith for tartness, Honeycrisp for sweetness), cored and sliced into 8β10 wedges each
2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 tablespoon (12g) granulated sugar (or coconut sugar for deeper flavor)
For the Caramel Whipped Cream:
1 cup (240ml) heavy whipping cream, chilled (bowl and beaters too, for best results)
ΒΌ cup (60ml) thick caramel sauce (homemade or high-quality store-bought)
1 teaspoon (5ml) pure vanilla extract
Pinch of fine sea salt (optional, to balance sweetness)
Instructions:
Preheat & Prep Apples:
Turn air fryer to 380Β°F (193Β°C) and preheat for 5 minutes. While it heats, in a large bowl, gently toss apple wedges with melted butter until glistening. Sprinkle with cinnamon and sugar, tossing again until evenly coated.
Air Fry to Perfection:
Arrange apples in a single layer in the air fryer basket β work in batches if needed to avoid steaming. Cook for 6 minutes, then flip each wedge. Continue cooking 4β6 minutes more, until edges curl slightly and apples are tender with caramelized spots.
Whip the Cream:
While apples cook, place cold heavy cream in a chilled metal or glass bowl. Whip on medium-high speed until soft peaks form (about 2 minutes). Slowly drizzle in caramel sauce and vanilla while whipping. Add a pinch of salt if using. Whip until stiff, glossy peaks hold their shape β do not overbeat.
Serve Immediately:
Transfer hot apple wedges to a warm serving platter or individual bowls. Dollop or pipe caramel whipped cream alongside β or serve it in a small dipping bowl. Encourage guests to swirl each wedge generously before devouring.
