Chocolate Sheet Cake with Milk Chocolate Frosting 🥰🥰
Ingredients
For the Chocolate Sheet Cake:
2 cups all-purpose flour
2 cups granulated sugar
1 teaspoon baking soda
½ teaspoon salt
1 cup unsalted butter
1 cup water
¼ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
½ cup sour cream (or Greek yogurt)
2 large eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
For the Milk Chocolate Frosting:
½ cup unsalted butter, softened
¼ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
¼ cup heavy cream (or whole milk)
2 cups powdered sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
4 oz milk chocolate, melted and slightly cooled
Instructions
Make the Cake:
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x13-inch baking pan.
In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking soda, and salt.
In a saucepan over medium heat, combine butter, water, and cocoa powder. Stir until butter is melted and mixture is smooth. Remove from heat.
Pour the warm cocoa mixture into the dry ingredients. Stir until combined.
Add sour cream, eggs, and vanilla extract. Mix until smooth.
Pour batter into the prepared pan and spread evenly.
Bake for 25–30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Let the cake cool completely before frosting.
Make the Frosting:
In a mixing bowl, beat butter and cocoa powder until smooth.
Add heavy cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract. Beat until creamy.
Pour in melted milk chocolate and mix until fully incorporated.
Spread frosting evenly over the cooled cake.
