Sweet Chili Sauce
Ingredients:
For the Sauce:
1 cup water
1 cup sugar
¼ cup vinegar (rice vinegar preferred)
1 tablespoon red pepper flakes
1 tablespoon smoked paprika
2 tablespoons soy sauce
2 tablespoons minced garlic
For the Cornstarch Slurry:
3 tablespoons cornstarch
3 tablespoons water
Instructions:
Prepare the Simple Syrup – In a saucepan over medium heat, combine water and sugar. Bring to a boil, stirring until the sugar fully dissolves.
Add Flavors – Stir in red pepper flakes, smoked paprika, soy sauce, vinegar, and minced garlic. Simmer for 2-3 minutes.
Thicken the Sauce – In a small bowl, mix cornstarch and water to create a slurry. Slowly whisk it into the saucepan while stirring constantly. Continue stirring until the sauce thickens.
Cool & Store – Remove from heat and let cool before transferring to an airtight container. Store in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.
Notes:
Increase red pepper flakes or add fresh chili for extra heat.
Use rice vinegar for a more traditional Asian flavor.
Great as a dipping sauce, glaze, or stir-fry addition.
