🐟🥥 Pan-Seared Mahi Mahi with Coconut Lime Sauce – Lightly crisp on the outside, tender on the inside, and bathed in a silky coconut-lime sauce that’s rich, bright, and totally addictive.
Perfect for when you want something simple, tropical, and packed with flavor. 🍋🌿
🍴 Ingredients:
For the mahi mahi:
2 mahi mahi fillets (about 180g / 6 oz each)
Salt & pepper to taste
1 tbsp oil (coconut or olive oil)
For the coconut lime sauce:
1 tbsp oil or butter
2 garlic cloves, minced
1 tsp fresh ginger, grated
1 small shallot, finely chopped
1 can (400ml) coconut milk
Zest and juice of 1 lime
1 tbsp fish sauce or soy sauce
1 tsp honey or brown sugar (optional)
Fresh cilantro or Thai basil, for garnish
Optional: sliced chili for heat
👨🍳 How to Make It:
Season & sear the fish:
Pat mahi mahi fillets dry and season with salt and pepper. Heat oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Sear the fish for 3–4 minutes per side, or until golden and just cooked through. Remove and set aside.
Build the sauce:
In the same skillet, reduce heat to medium. Add a bit more oil or butter, then sauté garlic, ginger, and shallot until fragrant (about 2 minutes).
Simmer the coconut magic:
Stir in coconut milk, lime zest, lime juice, fish sauce, and optional honey. Simmer for 5–7 minutes until slightly thickened. Taste and adjust seasoning.
Bring it all together:
Return the mahi mahi to the skillet and spoon sauce over the top. Simmer for 1–2 minutes to warm everything through.
Serve:
Plate with jasmine rice, rice noodles, or sautéed greens. Garnish with fresh herbs and chili slices for that perfect finishing touch.
🌟 Pro Tip:
This sauce also pairs beautifully with shrimp, tofu, or grilled vegetables. Make extra—you’ll want to drizzle it on everything!
