My favorite homemade Teriyaki sauce Recipe and Asian style barbecue sauce
Ingredients:
3/4 cup water
4 tablespoons packed light brown sugar
1/4 cup low sodium soy sauce
1 tsp garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
2 tablespoons cornstarch + 1/4 cup water for slurry
Steps:
Combine the water, brown sugar, soy sauce, garlic, and ginger in a medium saucepan at low to medium heat.
In a small bowl, combine the cornstarch with the 1/4 cup water and whisk until dissolved. Add the cornstarch mixture to the saucepan.
Heat the sauce until it thickens to your desired thickness. Add more water if you want it thinner. Enjoy!
*Chinese Style Barbecue Sauce
Ingredients:
1/3 cup hoisin sauce
2 tablespoons rice vinegar
1 tablespoon lemon juice
1 tablespoon Asian fish sauce
2 tablespoons soy sauce
1/4 cup sugar
1/3 cup onion diced
4 garlic cloves, minced or grated
1 tablespoon minced fresh ginger
1/2 teaspoon Chinese five spice powder
Mix everything well and pour in a saucepan. Mix until sugar is melted. Let it boils. Remove from heat. Let it cool.
Pour in the blender. Process till smooth. Ready to use. Enjoy!
