Ingredients:
1 lb (450g) sirloin or flank steak, sliced into strips
1 tbsp soy sauce
1 tsp oyster sauce
1/2 tsp black pepper
1 tsp cornstarch
2 tbsp vegetable oil (divided)
1 small onion, chopped
3 cloves garlic, minced
1 red chili, sliced (optional for heat)
1 cup green beans, trimmed
1/2 cup broccoli or broccolini (optional)
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp black pepper
2 tbsp soy sauce
1 tbsp oyster sauce
1 tbsp hoisin sauce (optional, for sweetness)
1/2 tsp sugar
1/2 tsp red pepper flakes (optional)
1/4 cup beef broth or water
1 tsp cornstarch (mixed with 1 tbsp water for thickening)
2 cups cooked jasmine or basmati rice
1 tsp sesame seeds (for garnish)
Directions:
In a bowl, mix sliced beef with soy sauce, oyster sauce, black pepper, and cornstarch. Let marinate for 10-15 minutes for extra tenderness. Heat 1 tbsp oil in a pan over high heat. Add beef and stir-fry for 2-3 minutes until browned. Remove from the pan and set aside. In the same pan, heat 1 tbsp oil and add onions, garlic, and red chili. Saute for 1-2 minutes until fragrant. Add green beans and broccoli, stir-frying for another 3-4 minutes. In a small bowl, mix soy sauce, oyster sauce, hoisin sauce, sugar, red pepper flakes, and beef broth. Pour the sauce into the pan and stir well. Add cornstarch slurry and mix until the sauce thickens. Return the beef to the pan and toss everything together for 1-2 minutes until coated and glossy. Spoon the stir-fry over cooked rice. Garnish with sesame seeds and serve hot!
