Christmas Dog Treats
Ingredients:
- 3/4 cup unsweetened applesauce
- 1/2 cup creamy peanut butter
- 1 large egg
- Red all-natural food coloring (optional)
- Green all-natural food coloring (optional)
- 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 2/3 cup rolled oats
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
2. In a large bowl, combine the unsweetened applesauce, creamy peanut butter, and egg. Mix well until smooth.
3. If desired, divide the dough into three portions. Leave one plain, add red food coloring to the second, and green food coloring to the third, mixing each until color is evenly distributed.
4. Gradually add the all-purpose flour and rolled oats to the wet ingredients, stirring until a dough forms. You may need to knead lightly with your hands to incorporate all flour.
5. Roll out the dough on a floured surface to about 1/4 inch thickness.
6. Use festive cookie cutters to cut out shapes and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
7. Bake for 20-25 minutes or until the treats are firm and lightly golden on the edges.
8. Allow the treats to cool completely before serving to your dog.
