Chinese Style Sesame Chicken
You need:
3 chicken thighs (deboned and peel skin)or 1 pound chicken
2 eggs
1/3 cup all purpose flour
1/3 cup cornstarch
1/4 tsp salt and pepper
oil for frying
SAUCE
2 cloves minced garlic
4 tbsp sugar
1/4 cup soy sauce
3 tbsp ketchup
3 tbsp rice vinegar
1 tsp sesame oil
1 tsp fresh minced ginger
1 tsp cornstarch
1/4 cup water
1 tbsp sesame seeds
In a bowl, mix flour, cornstarch, salt and pepper. Set aside. Then, on a second bowl, whisk the eggs. Dip each chicken to the egg mixture then to the flour mixture. Lay on a clean plate.
In a pan, heat oil, about 1/4 cup oil, enough to fry the chicken in batches. Set aside.
Making the sauce:
In a bowl, add soy sauce, sugar, ketchup, rice vinegar, sesame oil, ginger, water and cornstarch. Whisk and set aside.
In a large pan, slowly pour the sauce mixture. Let it boils and simmer for about 1-2 minutes till the sauce thickens a little bit. Add the fried chicken and mix till full combine. Garnish with sesame seeds. Serve on top of rice. Enjoy!
