Soy Sauce Chicken
Ingredients:
½ chicken (cut into pieces)
2.5 tbsp soy sauce
2.5 tbsp dark soy sauce
2 tbsp honey
1 tbsp oyster sauce
1 tsp sugar
3 cloves garlic, minced
½ tbsp five-spice powder
½ tsp white pepper
Sesame seeds (optional)
Green onions (for garnish, optional)
Instructions:
Marinate the Chicken:
In a bowl, combine soy sauce, dark soy sauce, oyster sauce, honey, sugar, garlic, five-spice powder, and white pepper.
Add the chicken pieces and coat them thoroughly in the marinade.
Cover and marinate for at least 30 minutes, or for the best flavor, marinate overnight in the refrigerator.
Cooking Methods:
Air Fryer Method:
Preheat the air fryer to 380°F (190°C).
Place the chicken in the air fryer, skin side up.
Cook for 20 minutes or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C).
Oven Method:
Preheat the oven to 420°F (220°C).
Place the chicken on a baking sheet, skin side up.
Bake for 25 minutes or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C).
Stovetop Method:
Heat 1 tbsp oil in a pan over medium-high heat.
Place the chicken skin side down and sear for 2 minutes.
Flip the chicken and sear for another 2 minutes.
Pour in the remaining marinade and reduce heat to low-medium.
Cover and simmer for 7 minutes.
Flip the chicken, cover again, and simmer for another 7 minutes.
Flip the chicken one last time, skin side up, and baste with the sauce.
Serving:
Garnish with green onions and sesame seeds (optional).
Serve hot with steamed rice and vegetables.
