Chicken Chow Mein with The Best Chow Mein Sauce
Ingredients:
2 boneless, skinless chicken breasts, thinly sliced
8 oz chow mein noodles (or spaghetti)
1 tbsp sesame oil
1 red bell pepper, julienned
1 carrot, julienned
1/2 cup green onions, chopped
2 tbsp vegetable oil
For the Sauce:
1/4 cup soy sauce
2 tbsp oyster sauce
1 tbsp hoisin sauce
1 tbsp rice vinegar
1 tsp sugar
1 tsp cornstarch mixed with 2 tbsp water
1/2 tsp garlic powder
1/2 tsp ground ginger
Directions:
Cook the Noodles: Cook chow mein noodles according to package instructions, drain, and set aside.
Prepare the Sauce: In a bowl, mix together soy sauce, oyster sauce, hoisin sauce, rice vinegar, sugar, garlic powder, ginger, and cornstarch-water mixture. Set aside.
Cook the Chicken: Heat 1 tbsp vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add the sliced chicken and cook until browned and cooked through, about 5-7 minutes. Remove from the skillet and set aside.
Stir-Fry the Vegetables: In the same skillet, add another tablespoon of vegetable oil. Stir-fry the bell pepper, carrot, and green onions for 2-3 minutes until slightly tender.
Combine and Serve: Add the cooked noodles, chicken, and sauce to the skillet. Toss everything together and stir-fry for another 2 minutes until the noodles are well-coated and heated through. Serve hot!
