Beef and Broccoli Lo Mein Noodles Recipe
Ingredients:
1 lb (450g) beef sirloin or flank steak, thinly sliced
8 oz lo mein noodles (or spaghetti as an alternative)
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
1 cup broccoli florets
1 onion, thinly sliced
2 cloves garlic, minced
2 tablespoons soy sauce
2 tablespoons oyster sauce
1 tablespoon hoisin sauce
1 tablespoon brown sugar
1 tablespoon rice vinegar
1 teaspoon sesame oil
1/2 teaspoon ground ginger (optional)
2 tablespoons green onions, chopped (for garnish)
Directions:
Begin by cooking the lo mein noodles according to the package directions. Once they're cooked and tender, drain them and set them aside.
Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add the thinly sliced beef and cook for about 5-7 minutes, or until browned and fully cooked. Once done, remove the beef from the skillet and set it aside for later.
In the same skillet, toss in the broccoli florets and onion slices. Stir-fry them for 3-4 minutes, until the veggies start to soften and become vibrant.
Add the minced garlic and cook for an additional minute, stirring constantly to ensure the garlic doesn’t burn and becomes aromatic.
In a small bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, oyster sauce, hoisin sauce, brown sugar, rice vinegar, sesame oil, and optional ground ginger. This will be your flavorful sauce base.
Return the cooked beef to the skillet, then pour in the sauce mixture. Stir everything together to ensure the beef and vegetables are coated well, and cook for another 2-3 minutes to let the flavors meld.
Finally, add the cooked noodles to the skillet. Toss everything together, making sure the noodles are fully coated in the sauce and combined with the beef and broccoli.
Serve your beef and broccoli lo mein hot, garnished with chopped green onions for a fresh, crisp finish.
