Crispy & Spicy Hot Honey Fried Shrimp Delight
Recipe:
Ingredients:
1 pound large shrimp, thawed, peeled, deveined, tail-on
1 cup (245 g) buttermilk
1 cup (125 g) all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon paprika
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon onion powder
1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
Salt and pepper, to taste
Vegetable oil, for frying
1/4 cup (60 g) hot honey (or a mix of honey and hot sauce)
Fresh cilantro, chopped (for garnish)
Directions:
In a medium bowl, whisk together the buttermilk, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, cayenne pepper, salt, and pepper.
Add the shrimp to the buttermilk mixture, coating them evenly. Let them marinate for 20-30 minutes.
While the shrimp are marinating, set up a dredging station. Place the flour in a shallow bowl.
Heat vegetable oil in a large frying pan over medium-high heat.
Remove the shrimp from the buttermilk mixture, letting any excess drip off, and dredge them in the flour until fully coated.
Fry the shrimp in batches, being careful not to overcrowd the pan. Cook for 2-3 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and crispy.
Remove the shrimp from the oil and drain on a paper towel-lined plate.
Drizzle the hot honey over the fried shrimp and garnish with fresh cilantro.
Serve immediately with your favorite dipping sauce or as a topping for salads, tacos, or rice bowls.
