Sizzling Chinese Pepper Steak with Onions
Ingredients:
1 lb flank steak, thinly sliced against the grain
2 tablespoons soy sauce
1 tablespoon oyster sauce
1 tablespoon hoisin sauce
1 tablespoon cornstarch
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
1 green bell pepper, sliced
1 red bell pepper, sliced
1 large onion, sliced
2 cloves garlic, minced
1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (optional)
1/4 cup beef broth or water
1 teaspoon sesame oil (optional)
Steamed white rice, for serving
Directions:
In a bowl, toss the sliced beef with soy sauce, oyster sauce, hoisin sauce, and cornstarch. Let marinate for at least 15 minutes.
Heat 1 tablespoon vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over high heat. Add the marinated beef and sear for 2–3 minutes until browned. Remove and set aside.
Add the remaining oil to the pan. Toss in sliced peppers, onions, and garlic. Stir-fry for 2–3 minutes until slightly tender but still crisp.
Return the beef to the pan. Add beef broth, black pepper, and red pepper flakes. Stir everything together and cook for another 2 minutes.
Finish with sesame oil for added flavor if desired. Serve hot over steamed rice.
