Ground Beef and Broccoli Bowls with Savory Sauce
Ingredients:
1 lb ground beef
1 large head broccoli, cut into florets
1 red bell pepper, thinly sliced
1/2 cup soy sauce
1/4 cup brown sugar
2 tablespoons cornstarch
1 tablespoon rice vinegar
1 tablespoon sesame oil
1 teaspoon grated ginger
1 clove garlic, minced
1/4 cup water
Sesame seeds (optional, for garnish)
Cooked rice, for serving
Instructions:
1. Heat sesame oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add ground beef and cook, breaking it up with a spoon, until browned. Remove beef from skillet and set aside.
2. Add broccoli and red bell pepper to the skillet and stir-fry for 3-5 minutes, until slightly tender-crisp.
3. In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, brown sugar, cornstarch, rice vinegar, ginger, and garlic. Add water and whisk until smooth.
4. Return the cooked ground beef to the skillet with the vegetables. Pour the sauce over the beef and vegetables and bring to a simmer. Cook for 2-3 minutes, or until the sauce has thickened and coats the ingredients.
5. Serve the ground beef and broccoli mixture over cooked rice. Garnish with sesame seeds, if desired.
Notes:
You can adjust the amount of brown sugar to your liking. If you prefer a less sweet sauce, reduce the amount.
For a spicier dish, add a pinch of red pepper flakes to the sauce.
Other vegetables, such as carrots, mushrooms, or snow peas, can be added to the stir-fry.
Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
