Chicken Wontons in Spicy Chili Sauce:
Ingredients:
For the Chicken Wontons:
1 lb ground chicken
1/4 cup finely chopped green onions
2 tablespoons grated ginger
2 tablespoons soy sauce
1 tablespoon sesame oil
1/4 cup finely chopped mushrooms (optional)
Wonton wrappers
For the Spicy Chili Sauce:
1/4 cup soy sauce
2 tablespoons rice vinegar
2 tablespoons chili paste or chili oil
1 tablespoon sesame oil
2 teaspoons sugar
1 tablespoon minced garlic
1 tablespoon chopped green onions
1 tablespoon sesame seeds for garnish
Steps:
Prepare the Chicken Filling:
In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground chicken, chopped green onions, grated ginger, soy sauce, sesame oil, and optional chopped mushrooms. Mix well.
Fill the Wontons:
Place a small spoonful of the chicken mixture in the center of each wonton wrapper.
Moisten the edges with water and fold the wrappers into triangles or dumpling shapes, sealing the edges tightly.
Cook the Wontons:
In a pot of boiling water, carefully drop in the wontons and cook for about 4-5 minutes, or until they float to the surface and the filling is cooked through.
Alternatively, you can steam them for about 8 minutes.
Make the Spicy Chili Sauce:
In a small saucepan, combine soy sauce, rice vinegar, chili paste, sesame oil, sugar, and garlic. Bring to a simmer over medium heat, stirring until the sugar dissolves.
Remove from heat and stir in the chopped green onions.
Assemble:
Place the cooked wontons into a serving bowl and pour the spicy chili sauce over them.
Garnish with sesame seeds and extra green onions if desired.
Serve:
Serve hot as an appetizer or main dish.
