Char Siu Pork Bowl with Crispy Fried Shallots & Sunny-Side Up Egg 🍚🐷
Ingredients:
For the Char Siu Pork:
1 lb pork shoulder, cut into 1-inch cubes
1/4 cup soy sauce
1/4 cup honey
2 tablespoons hoisin sauce
1 tablespoon rice vinegar
1 teaspoon sesame oil
1/2 teaspoon five-spice powder
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
For the Crispy Shallots:
1 large shallot, thinly sliced
For the Bowl:
1 cup cooked rice
1 egg
1 tablespoon chopped green onions
Sesame seeds, for garnish
Instructions:
Marinate the Pork: In a bowl, combine pork cubes, soy sauce, honey, hoisin sauce, rice vinegar, sesame oil, five-spice powder, garlic powder, and black pepper. Toss to coat. Marinate for at least 30 minutes, or up to 24 hours.
Grill the Pork: Grill the pork over medium-high heat for 2-3 minutes per side, or until cooked through.
Make the Crispy Shallots: Heat a skillet over medium heat with a little oil. Add sliced shallots and cook until golden brown and crispy.
Cook the Egg: Fry an egg sunny-side up.
Assemble the Bowls: Divide cooked rice between bowls. Top with grilled pork, crispy shallots, and a fried egg. Drizzle with any remaining marinade and garnish with chopped green onions and sesame seeds.
