Sizzling Chinese Pepper Steak with Onions
A classic Chinese dish with a spicy kick.
Ingredients:
1 pound flank steak, thinly sliced against the grain
1 large onion, thinly sliced
1 red bell pepper, thinly sliced
1 tablespoon cornstarch
1 teaspoon soy sauce
1/2 teaspoon Chinese five-spice powder
1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
Instructions:
Marinate steak: In a bowl, combine the cornstarch, soy sauce, five-spice powder, and red pepper flakes. Add the steak and marinate for 15-20 minutes.
Heat oil: Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet over high heat.
Cook onion and pepper: Add the onion and bell pepper to the hot skillet and cook for 2-3 minutes, or until softened.
Add steak: Add the marinated steak to the skillet and cook for 2-3 minutes per side, or until cooked to your desired level of doneness.
Toss and serve: Toss the steak, onion, and bell pepper together. Serve immediately while still sizzling.
Serve: Serve with steamed rice or noodles.
Tips:
For a spicier dish, add more red pepper flakes.
You can substitute the flank steak with other cuts of beef, such as sirloin or ribeye.
