Sizzling Chinese Pepper Steak with Onions 🍽️🥢🌶️
A delicious blend of flavors for a perfect dinner!
📋 Ingredients
- 1 pound flank steak, thinly sliced against the grain
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil, divided
- 1 large onion, sliced
- 1 bell pepper (red or green), sliced
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon ginger, minced
- 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
- 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Green onions, chopped (for garnish)
- Sesame seeds (for garnish)
📝 Instructions
1. Marinate the Steak: In a bowl, combine the sliced flank steak, soy sauce, and cornstarch. Mix well to coat the steak evenly. Let it marinate for about 15-20 minutes while you prepare the other ingredients.
2. Heat the Oil: In a large skillet or wok, heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil over medium-high heat. Add the marinated steak to the skillet in a single layer. Sear for about 2-3 minutes on each side until browned but not fully cooked. Remove the steak from the skillet and set aside.
3. Sauté the Vegetables: In the same skillet, add the remaining tablespoon of vegetable oil. Add the sliced onion and bell pepper. Stir-fry for about 3-4 minutes until they begin to soften. Add the minced garlic and ginger, and sauté for another minute until fragrant.
4. Combine and Add Sauce: Return the partially cooked steak to the skillet with the vegetables. In a small bowl, mix together the oyster sauce, rice vinegar, sugar, salt, and pepper. Pour this sauce over the steak and vegetables. Stir everything together and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes, allowing the steak to finish cooking and the sauce to thicken slightly.
5. Serve: Remove from heat and garnish with chopped green onions and sesame seeds. Serve hot on a sizzling plate or regular plate with steamed rice or noodles.
