Beef and Mushrooms
Ingredients:
1 lb flank steak, thinly sliced against the grain
8 oz mushrooms, sliced
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 tbsp ginger, minced
2 tbsp soy sauce
1 tbsp oyster sauce
1 tbsp cornstarch
1 tsp sugar
1/2 tsp black pepper
2 tbsp vegetable oil
Green onions for garnish
Marinade:
1 tbsp soy sauce, 1 tsp cornstarch, 1/2 tsp sesame oil, and 1/4 tsp white pepper.
Instructions:
1. Marinate the beef:
In a bowl, combine the beef with the marinade ingredients. Let it sit for at least 30 minutes.
2. Cook the beef:
Heat 1 tbsp oil in a wok or large skillet over high heat. Add the beef and cook, stirring occasionally, until browned. Remove from the pan and set aside.
3. Cook the mushrooms:
Add the remaining oil to the pan. Add the mushrooms and cook until softened. Add the garlic and ginger and cook for another minute.
4. Combine and serve:
Add the beef back to the pan. Stir in the soy sauce, oyster sauce, sugar, and black pepper. Mix the cornstarch with 2 tbsp water and add to the pan to thicken the sauce. Garnish with green onions and serve with rice.
