Thai Basil Beef with Jasmine Rice
Aromatic Thai Basil Beef Stir-Fry with Fragrant Jasmine Rice
Ingredients:

1 lb lean ground beef
3 tablespoons vegetable oil
4 cloves garlic, minced
3 Thai chili peppers, finely chopped (adjust to taste)
1 red bell pepper, sliced
1 yellow onion, thinly sliced
2 cups Thai basil leaves (or regular basil if unavailable)
2 tablespoons oyster sauce
1 tablespoon soy sauce
1 tablespoon fish sauce
1 teaspoon brown sugar
1/4 cup water or beef broth
2 cups jasmine rice
3 cups water (for rice)
2 green onions, sliced for garnish
1 lime, cut into wedges for serving

Directions:

Rinse jasmine rice in cold water until water runs clear. Place in a pot with 3 cups of water. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for 15 minutes. Remove from heat and let stand, covered, for 10 minutes.
While the rice is cooking, heat 1 tablespoon of oil in a large wok or skillet over high heat. Add ground beef and cook until browned, about 5-7 minutes, breaking it up with a spatula. Transfer to a plate and set aside.
In the same wok, add the remaining 2 tablespoons of oil. Add minced garlic and Thai chilies, stir-frying for about 30 seconds until fragrant.
Add sliced bell pepper and onion, stir-frying for 2-3 minutes until slightly softened but still crisp.
Return the cooked beef to the wok. Add oyster sauce, soy sauce, fish sauce, brown sugar, and water or broth. Stir to combine and let simmer for 1-2 minutes.
Turn off the heat and add the Thai basil leaves, stirring until they're just wilted.
Fluff the jasmine rice with a fork and serve the Thai basil beef over a bed of rice.
Garnish with sliced green onions and lime wedges on the side.
