Hoisin Sauce Recipe
Ingredients:
• 1/2 cup soy sauce
• 1/4 cup peanut butter (or tahini for a nut-free option)
• 2 tablespoons honey or maple syrup
• 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
• 1 tablespoon sesame oil
• 1 teaspoon sriracha or chili paste (adjust to taste)
• 1 teaspoon garlic powder
• 1 teaspoon five-spice powder (optional)
• 1 tablespoon water (to thin, if necessary)
Directions:
1. Combine Ingredients:
o In a medium bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, peanut butter, honey (or maple syrup), rice vinegar, sesame oil, sriracha, garlic powder, and five-spice powder until smooth and well combined.
2. Adjust Consistency:
o If the sauce is too thick, gradually add water, one tablespoon at a time, until you reach your desired consistency.
3. Taste and Adjust:
o Taste the sauce and adjust the sweetness, heat, or acidity to your preference by adding more honey, sriracha, or rice vinegar.
4. Store:
o Transfer the hoisin sauce to an airtight container. It can be stored in the refrigerator for up to two weeks.
5. Serve:
o Use the hoisin sauce as a dipping sauce, marinade, or stir-fry sauce for your favorite dishes.
